Health Principles Beneficial To All Diets
Along our pathway to health, we all choose the diet and lifestyle that suits our tastes. Still, there are health upgrades that will support the original cycles and rhythms of our bodies and elevate any diet we choose. Our efforts to learn and perfect any diet, whether it is the Paleo diet, Veganism or Ayurveda, could all be eclipsed if we don’t tap into our body's essential needs.
The Oils in Our Diets
The quality of the oils we consume has a major influence on our health. Specifically, the move to consume unrefined oils rather than refined oils, elevates our health.
Refined oils are taken through a high temperature and chemical process that strips the natural nutrients from the food source, injects solvents that cause inflammation and disease, and causes the oil to oxidize more easily, which increases free radicals. Hydrogenation, that solidifies oils into margarine, damages essential fatty acids and creates unhealthy trans-fats.
Unrefined oils maintain the essential fatty acids (i.e. Proper balance of Omega 3, Omega 6 and GLA), we need for our health. These fatty acids nourish our cells and DNA. Namely, unrefined flax seed oil assists with the electrical charges inherent in our cells. Maintained in unrefined oils is the vitamin E from nuts and seeds; an antioxidant which staves off free radicals and disease. Also, the anti-inflammatory effects of these oils can prevent painful diseases fed by inflammation, like arthritis and rheumatism. The change to unrefined oils lightens your system and upgrades your health. Without it, any diet still comes up short.
Fresh Instead of Processed
Being a vegan/vegetarian is not enough if you are still over consuming processed foods. Fresh foods are the health boost for all diets. Even meat eaters stand a better chance at dodging disease when their diet is balanced with fresh fruits and vegetables. Fresh foods provide the nutrients we need, without the added toxins from processed foods’ preservatives, additives, excessive sugars and salt.
Maintaining Our Natural Flow
Our systems were designed to flow. Movement and cleansing are two ways to keep the flow from becoming stagnant and they prevent disease from forming in our bodies. Movement increases the flow of oxygen into our organs, tissues and muscles. Cleansing of the digestive tract eliminates toxins from our bodies. Both these essential processes help our blood to remain clean, healthy and circulating properly throughout our bodies.
The fact that you are consuming a superior diet means nothing if the contents of that diet remain lodged in your system. All food stuffs create a certain amount of waste that has to be delivered from the body via our pores or our digestive systems. Even our choice of what we put on our skin, in the way of personal care products, affects our health. If we use products with harmful chemicals, they enter and even clog the pores of our skin; again, obstructing the natural flow. Maintaining your body’s natural flow will greatly enhance your diet and lifestyle choice.
Our Main Diet
Our main diet is actually our thoughts and attitudes. This is what drives our food choices and determines the stress levels in our lives. It would be a pity to go through major efforts to eat well, only to be taken down by anxiety and stress.
Examining how you see life and how you respond to life’s challenges is helpful. When you can meet life’s challenges with a positive outlook, it helps reduce the stress. When you assure yourself within that you can weather any storm, it does put you a step ahead. Being proactive to relieve stress, by enjoying time in nature, deep breathing, and surrounding yourself with loving family and friends, is the way forward.
So, let’s be sure to include these health principles in whatever diet and lifestyle we choose to help us achieve a better quality of life.
